One small and one larger pitcher from the series Ruska, produced by the Finnish brand Arabia in the 1960s. Ruska was designed by Ulla Procopé, one of the most prolific ceramic designers of the mid century design in Finland. Ruska, which means autumn colours in Finnish, was a groundbreaking design that took inspiration from the Japanese Raku pottery.
The method used when producing the series is unusual since powered iron was applied to a matte glazing, giving each piece a unique look and a slightly rugged surface. Ruska was produced until the year 2000 and is nowadays sought after by mid century modern lovers.
